How is my Protected Health Information (PHI) used?

Protected Health Information (PHI) is protected by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). HIPPA protects any piece of information in an individual’s medical record that could be used or disclosed to personally identify them.

Collecting PHI is a necessary component of the healthcare industry, therefore it needs to be attended to with the proper safeguards. Phone numbers and email addresses are only used to disseminate educational materials.

Additionally, upon enrollment, PHI is never shared with an employer or other plan members that would or could disclose information related to a member's personal health situation.
